Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge in the UK that outlines the government’s commitment to supporting members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families. It recognizes the sacrifices made by these individuals and aims to ensure they are treated fairly and with respect in all aspects of life.
The covenant has two main parts:
1. The Duty of the Nation: This part of the covenant ensures that armed forces personnel are not disadvantaged in areas like healthcare, housing, or employment compared to the civilian population. It also commits to ensuring that families of serving personnel are supported and looked after.
2. The Responsibility of the Armed Forces: This part focuses on the commitment of the armed forces to maintain a high standard of behavior and to uphold values such as respect, integrity, and honor in both military and civilian life.
